Wegovy (semaglutide) is an injectable medication used for weight loss in adults with obesity or overweight who also have at least one weight-related health condition. It comes as a pre-filled pen injector with a dosage of 1 mg/0.5 mL.

To use Wegovy, follow these steps:

1. Select and clean the injection site: Choose an area of your abdomen (stomach), upper arm, or thigh for the injection site. Clean the site with an alcohol swab and let it dry.

2. Prepare the pen: Remove the pen from the package and check the label for the expiration date. Remove the cap and inspect the medication for any particles or discoloration. Do not use the pen if the medication is cloudy or discolored.

3. Prime the pen: Hold the pen with the needle pointing upwards and gently tap the cartridge to remove any air bubbles. Press the dose button until you see a small drop of medication at the tip of the needle. This primes the pen and ensures that you receive the full dose.

4. Set the dose: Turn the dosage knob to the right until your prescribed dose (1 mg) is shown in the dose window. Do not press the dose button yet.

5. Inject the medication: Hold the pen like a pencil and insert the needle into the prepared injection site at a 90-degree angle. Press the dose button and hold it down until the dose knob has returned to zero. This will slowly release the medication under your skin. Keep the button pressed as you withdraw the needle.

6. Remove the needle and discard the pen: After the injection, remove the needle from your skin and discard the pen in a sharps container.

7. Dispose of the needles and pens: Discard the pen and needles in a labeled sharps disposal container. Do not throw them in the household trash.

Important things to remember:
