Recommendations for Optimal Usage:

This delivery set should be replaced every 24 hours

1. Remove protective cover from the spike and insert spike into the appropriate enteral formula container

2. Remove the protective covering from the barbed adapter (the red piece)

   (If using this set with a carry pack, continue to step #3 to remove all air from the bag and tubing. If set is to be hung above the pump, like on an IV pole, skip to step #4.)

3. Turn bag upside down and gently squeeze the bag. Tilt the bag to keep the air by the tubing port while continuing on to step #4.

4. Gently pinch the teal colored tubing below the teardrop symbol. Continue pinching until all the air has been removed from the tubing. Gently squeeze the bag at the same time to help the fluid start to flow. (If fluid doesn’t start to flow you may be pinching it too tight.)

5. Follow the instructions in the pump and operator’s manual for expelling air from the tube using the pump prime feature.

   (When using thick formulas it is recommended to prime with the pump since its faster than priming with gravity.)

6. Position the silicone tubing around the pump wheel, stretching lightly. Seat cassette into the pump and close pump door.

7. Insert barbed adapter into patient’s feeding tube
